Summer Soul Searching

Ralph Lauren was borin' before I wore him...-Mr. West

Happy Tuesday to all of my blogging family! I hope your weekend was as eventful as mine. My apologies for the delay on some days I'm in summer school and we're on the last leg so it's occupying most of my time. But as I evolve so is this blog and I hope that you all will continue to be patient with me as I add layers to myself and this wonderful outlet to express myself.

On another note I will be uploading my wonderful fellowship I experienced with some beautiful ladies this evening so be on the look out.

The Power of Persuasion.

Whether you love him or hate him, you have to respect him...Nick Cannon is one the cover of Giant Magazine (July issue) he's been with some of the most beautiful women in the industry, has had his hand in every aspect of entertainment movies, music, and television, which has led him to becoming a multimedia mogul. Whether you laugh at him or with him you gotta give him his respect.

There is no greater power than the power of thought, for as a man thinketh in his heart so is he...thus those around him must eventually succumb to the power that lies dormant within him.

RIP to Icons

I'm doing the normal routine you know resting before work and I start getting all these random texts telling me the King of Pop has passed, and I'm like yeah whatever this is probably a publicity stunt (as Mr. Jackson was scheduled to go on tour in a month and was rumored to be releasing an album at the end of this year or the beginning of next year) by one of his fans or something but it is true Michael Jackson has died at age 50 of apparent heart failure, this comes right on the heals of one of Americas icons Farrah Fawcett dieing after losing her battle with cancer. Despite the controversy each one faced, dealt with, and overcame these were two creative and therefor beautiful people who will truly and forever be missed RIP Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett. To read more about Michael and Farrah's lives check it out here and here. It is my hope that I can have a semblance of the impact on the lives of others as the people have had on ours. May they both rest in peace.

One of my favorites.

"Take care of how you appear when walking out the door"

A friend and I were having a chat yesterday about how people are so cavalier about how they communicate themselves to society, it's an unfortunate thing that people really don't realize how much what you wear reflects your state of mind. I came across the interview on swagger360 a blog I just started following and the interviewee Alexander Mars hits key components in the interview. Being dressed well even helped when he met his wife. Guess loving clothing can bring about true love. enjoy

I want to go back...

I greatly anticipate being able to go behind the scenes and seeing the process of a line coming together, and all of the variables coming together for the production of a show...but until then I'll enjoy others opportunities to do so. Here are some from the some of the collections I enjoyed. To see all of the men's 2010 spring summer collection check out men.style.com

With the advent and necessity of the internet, I have begun to see the effects it continues to have on the fashion industry and with the expenses that come with a fashion show and production I wonder if more designers will begin going the internet production route, producing visual pieces of transitional art available to and for everyone. As vinyl, evolved to the 8 track, to the tape, to the CD, to the MP3, I wonder if we are the cusp of a fashion production evolution, could we soon be seeing production instead of shows? I don't know that I'd be all that disappointed if I did.

A man's walk is never done...

So Milan fashion week started Monday...and I must admit I'm enjoying what I see so far. A return to tailoring and more of a focus on elegance, casual or otherwise. The thing I really love about these fashion week events are not just the fashion shows themselves but a look at style trends especially there in Milan, and Florence. Watching these trends always allow me to update my own wardrobe without purchasing a thing. But for now let's take a look at some of my favorite collections so far for the S/S 2010 collections.

First there's Zegna...No frills, no thrills just consistency on the part of Gildo Zegna the color palette was soft yet classic and offered a more relaxed silhouette (especially in the pants) while remaining true to the brand's elegantly casual aesthetic.

I also enjoyed Bottega Veneta's collection as he explored color and structure with this collection, but the thing that I enjoy most is Tomas Maier's ability to not take a man too far too fast there's always something relatively familiar yet fashionable in his pieces. The colors were a lot more vibrant in hue than in past collections I've seen him produce but I loved that he still managed to keep them masculine but minimizing the vitality of each color.

here's some video of the show

stay tuned for more post after the jump...

Flavor....

Here's a easy way to put your own stamp on a drink at your next party compliments of Colin Cowie.
The easiest way to flavor Vodka is to add your desired flavoring directly to the bottle, cap the bottle, and allow it to marinate in the freezer for two or three days. The longer it marinates, the stronger the flavor.

Some of my favorite additions are:

* Lemon grass, 3 or 4 stalks
* Orange rind, 1/2 cup
* Raspberries or blackberries - 1 cup
* Tarragon; 4 or 5 stalks
* Star anise, 6 pods
* Grapefruit rind, 1/2 cup
* Lemon rind, 1/2 cup
* Chili peppers, 1 or 2 peppers (for a milder flavor, remove the seeds)
